The New Doctor Who: New Foreshadowing?

Alert! This post will contain spoilers! Beware of what is below!

So, I know I have yet to talk about the new Doctor Who episodes, starring Matt Smith and Karen Gillan, but I thought I would already post some ideas about possible themes that I have caught in the first two episodes of season five (that is, “The Eleventh Hour” and “The Beast Below”).

  • Zero – “The Eleventh Hour” dealt with an alien named ‘Prisoner Zero’. Obviously, the concept of zero was important in that episode. However, in “The Beast Below”, I heard zero mentioned at least once, making me wonder if this was an element worth keeping track of.
  • Silence is Falling – The alien in “The Eleventh Hour” said that silence is falling. What does this mean? I’m not sure right now, but I think this may be something that comes up again, if not in the season finale, then during another episode in the season.
  • A Crack in the Universe – This one is blatantly obvious in the new season so far. When we first meet Amelia Pond, she has a crack in her wall. We later see that crack on a monitor in the TARDIS before the Doctor and Amy disappear. We then see this crack on the side of the ship in “The Beast Below”. Clearly, this is some kind of obvious foreshadowing (or a red herring). In either case, it is blatant in these episodes.

As we see more of the new Doctor Who season airing, we’ll see what else comes along. If you have noticed some more trends, please post them below!

My Star Trek Online Videos

I know, I know… I annoyed so many people with my automatic Twitter updates about new videos I had uploaded to Google. Well, I’m sorry.

But, I’m not sorry enough to not post this summary post. Yes, here is an overview of all of the videos I have posted thus far.

First, for a quick reference, you can find all of my Star Trek Online videos, including any future ones, on this playlist. (Unfortunately, some of my first videos don’t have sound, but all of my latest ones, and my future ones, do!)

So, what videos do I have? Well, I have some videos pertaining to some missions in the game. (I also have a playlist for all mission videos, too.) These include the tutorial [1, 2, 3], the “SS Azura Mission” [1, 2, 3, 4], “Diplomatic Orders” [1, 2, 3], “Stop the Signal” [1, 2], “Hide and Seek” [1, 2, 3, 4] and, my personal favorite so far, “City on the Edge of Never” [1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6]

Besides those mission videos, I also have some informative “How To” videos. An example of this is embedded below:

Hopefully, you’ll find these videos interesting!

Do you have any specific parts of Star Trek Online that you’d like me to make a video about? Let me know, either by a comment on this post, or through Twitter, Facebook, or the usual means!

STO Open Beta Gameplay Footage [Video]

So, are you waiting for Star Trek Online’s open beta client to download? Or are you not in beta at all? Or are you and you still want to see more of Star Trek Online?!

Well, here’s some game play footage of the mission to rescue the SS Azura! If the text and screen appear to small, you can always put the video into full screen to see it.

This video comes in four parts, all of which are posted below.

Star Trek Online Enters Open Beta

The game has come a long way. Star Trek Online is finally at the open beta stage. Thankfully, this also includes another little perk: the lifting of the non-disclosure agreement that had us closed beta testers silent.

Starting later today, I’ll be posting various screen shots from closed beta, talking about some of my favorite moments, and other little things about Star Trek Online. I can also answer questions.

Do you have something you want to know about Star Trek Online? If I can answer it, I will. Just leave a comment here, tweet me, or use the form on my blog.

My Blog in Review: 2009

Well, the end of the year is here already. I thought I’d look back at what I had on my blog, talk about what is to come, and a little bit of other stuff.

It’s hard to believe that this new blog (code named Jerenspeak) went up back in April. Since then, I’ve covered a variety of topics, from a browser comparison, domain slamming, and Eric Clapton, to Twitter, Star Trek Online, and Doctor Who. It’s been an interesting year, with a range of subjects that I hope my (limited number of) readers have enjoyed.

I do have quite a bit to post on the same subjects. Articles are already written. However, they will be posted more regularly than before, especially after I get my entire site redesigned.

So, what is there to look forward to? More Twitter/online safety tips, Doctor Who news and reviews, information about Star Trek Online, web design/programming tips and guidelines, music/guitar information… it’s all coming! Just be sure to subscribe to my RSS feed or Twitter account to stay on top of it.

I hope everyone stays safe tonight. And we’ll see what comes with my site for 2010!

The End of Time Updates

After the BBC airing of The Waters of Mars, we’re seeing more information about The End of Time. I won’t overly analyze anything but, rather, I’ll just post some press release information as well as a video and let you read into it for yourself.

The End Of Time: Part One
It’s the Tenth Doctor’s final journey – but his psychotic nemesis the Master has been reborn, on Christmas Eve. With both determined to cheat death, the battle ranges from the wastelands of London to the mysterious Immortality Gate, while the alien Ood warn of an even greater danger approaching, as a terrible shadow falls across the entire Universe.

David Tennant stars as the Tenth Doctor and guest stars include John Simm, Bernard Cribbins, Catherine Tate, Timothy Dalton, David Harewood and June Whitfield.
The End Of Time – Part One is written by Russell T Davies and directed by Euros Lyn. The producer is Tracie Simpson.
Doctor Who – The End Of Time: Part One is simulcast on the BBC HD channel – the BBC’s High Definition channel, available through Freesat, Sky and Virgin Media.

And Part 2…

The End Of Time: Part Two
The Doctor faces the end of his life as the Master’s plans hurtle out of control. With the sound of drums growing louder, and an ancient trap closing around the Earth, the Doctor and Wilf must fight alone. But sacrifices must be made, and the deadly prophecy warns: “He will knock four times.”

And lastly, here’s a little preview of The End of Time, as shown during this year’s Children in Need special.

And if you want to see some still images from this preview, I found a nice set over at David-Tennant.org.
